I finished this one between home and El Paso. It’s the Corona Camisol and one of those knits I’ve been wanting to make for a while, so I decided to just do it. It also happens to be one of those knits that only a handful of people on Ravelry have tried; and maybe two ended up liking. But I had the yarn (discount Naturally Caron, Spa) and it is a sort of summery knit, so I decided to knock it out.
This is totally wrinkled because I hadn’t blocked it yet, but you get the idea.
I love the effect of the yarn wraps for the neckline. And I love the detail of little silver rings attaching the I-cord straps to the body. I also love the whole drop- waist look. What I don’t love is the overall shapelessness. ( I swear the pattern model has the back clothes- pinned together for the magazine shoot. )
But, in a way I still like it. Possibly I like it more as something to have experienced making than as something to have experienced wearing- I’m not sure. It does have a vintage pinafore look. I can see myself, hair tied up in a kerchief, bent over a row in the garden…or washing with a wash board… or hanging out on street corners like a depression-era urchin.
I like the gathered look of the decreases in back. It makes me think of a girl’s smocked jumper.
If it weren’t for the neckline I know I wouldn’t wear this. As is, I might.
If I had the desire to redo this I would slim it down more, like Krys-B did. But I don’t, so it’s just another knit checked off the ever shortening list and 3 more skeins of yarn gone from the closet.
More on my Ravelry.
